Kia India is all set to launch its first electric car in India. Kia has officially announced that the Kia EV6 (Premium EV Crossover) will be introduced in India on June 2, 2022. If we talk about the Kia EV6, then it was recently spotted at the company’s Andhra Pradesh plant and we got a glimpse of the color options coming in the car. A few months back, the company had revealed its plans regarding electric vehicles. It was informed that by 2030, the company is going to launch 14 new electric cars, out of which many models will also be launched in India.
The Kia EV6 will be the Korean automaker’s first foray into the Indian EV space. Kia currently sells ICE models in India in subcompact, compact, and MPV segments. Kia’s subsidiary Hyundai is already selling the Hyundai Kona EV in India and will soon bring the Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV which will be based on the EV6 platform.
Kia EV6 design and specifications
The exterior of the Kia EV6 will get LED headlamps, a grille above the air dam, 19-inch alloy wheels, and LED taillights. At the same time, according to the information revealed so far, the Kia electric car will come with ultra-fast charging support so that its battery can be charged in less than 4.5 minutes. Also, it will have the option of a 350kW and 50kWH fast charger, which will be able to charge its battery by 10-18% in 18 minutes and 73 minutes respectively. Not only this, the Kia EV6 will be able to accelerate to 100kmph in 3.5 seconds.
Apart from this, the Kia electric car will be sold in GT-Line trim with a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Its RWD model will be capable of delivering an electric range of 528km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge. On the other hand, the AWD variant will give a range of up to 425km.
