Hyundai Casper SUV: Hyundai Names Its Smallest SUV AX1 as Casper
Hyundai Casper Smallest SUV Launch: South Korea’s leading automaker Hyundai Motor Company is preparing to introduce the new AX1 micro-SUV later this year. According to international media reports, the company has now trademarked the name Casper for its upcoming sub-4-meter SUV. The company will launch its upcoming car for sale in the domestic market and after that, it will be sold in other international markets including India. As far as positioning is concerned, the Hyundai Casper will be an entry-level SUV. It will be Hyundai’s smallest SUV below the current sub-compact SUV Venue.
Hyundai Casper SUV can be launched with a different name in India as well as other markets. Its details will be revealed in the coming days. It will be based on Hyundai’s K1 compact car platform which is also used in cars like Grand i10Nios and Santro. Hyundai is going to start mass production of this small SUV in Korea in September 2021.
Hyundai Casper SUV Features
The trial production of the new Casper has already started. While its full production is expected to start in September 2021. An electric version of this car will also be brought to the company’s lineup, which can be launched in the year 2023 or 2024. The modular unit is likely to come with features such as the BorgWarner Integrated Drive Module (IDM) with electric motor, gearbox, and power electronics.
Hyundai Casper SUV Engine
The Hyundai Casper is likely to be powered by the same 1.2-liter 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Grand i10 Nios. In Grand i10 Nios, this engine generates power of 83 bhp and torque of 114 Nm. The 1.1-liter petrol engine of the Santro can be given in the lower variants. Both manual and AMT gearboxes can be found in this car.
Hyundai Casper SUV Size
The size of the Hyundai Casper SUV is expected to be 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width and 1,575 mm in height. According to the report, if these figures are correct, then the Hyundai Casper will be slightly smaller and thinner than the current Santro hatchback, which measures 3,610 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height.
