Maruti Swift is one of the best selling hatchbacks in India. At present, the company sells it only in the petrol model. Recently the company has increased its prices. In such a situation, Maruti is trying to capitalize on the popularity of this car by expanding the range with new CNG variants. It gets the same engine as the Swift DZire. 1.2-litre 4-cylinder dual-jet petrol engine is available. This engine generates 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox.

Necessary changes are being made to this engine to work with CNG. It is believed that the company can offer their CNG variants only with manual transmission. Currently, the Swift gives a mileage of 23.2 kmpl with manual gearbox. At the same time, this car gives a mileage of 23.76 kmpl with automatic gearbox. This figure is ARAI-claimed certified. However, it remains to be seen in what trim and spec Maruti Suzuki offers the CNG variant of the Swift.
