Xiaomi POCO F1
MIUI, firmware made by Xiaomi for smartphones and tablets, is continuously updated for a better user experience. Just two months ago, one of its versions MIUI 9.6 was launched along with the Xiaomi POCO F1, Xiaomi’s most affordable flagship smartphone to date. MIUI 9.6 is based on Android Oreo. Since its launch, the company was testing the beta version of Xiaomi MIUI 10 Global. While showing a good amount of transparency in the MIUI forum, Xiaomi has cleared that they have taken the user’s feedback during the beta version into consideration.
As the company plans to launch the stable version of Xiaomi MIUI 10 Global after a week, it is interesting to see which issues are going to fix by the company:
1. Updated Xiaomi POCO Launcher
Most sought after features custom app icon size, dark mode, and the desktop grid will be included in the updated Xiaomi POCO Launcher. You can get this update on Play Store next week.
2. Addressing Incompatibilities
Xiaomi had a meeting with Gameloft to address the compatibility issues with Asphalt 8 and 9. What’s more, the notch covering the issue of PUBG will also resolve soon. The Android Auto team is trying to optimize the platform for Xiaomi POCO F1 as well. So, the good news is that we can have these issues fixed quickly.
3. Resolving Streaming Issue
Since the release of POCO F1, there is an absence of Widevine L1 support, which is necessary for streaming HD content in both Netflix and Amazon Video. Xiaomi is going to fix this issue together with Google and Qualcomm in the last quarter of 2018.
4. Removing MIUI Issues
The upcoming Xiaomi MIUI 10 update is going to fix various issues of the previous versions. One of them is a lack of app icons in the status bar. Also, “OK Google” support along with the battery percentage indicator is also coming in the MIUI 10 Global Stable as they were part of the Xiaomi MIUI 10 Global Beta version. Also, the problem of wrong input during the fast typing on the virtual keyboard is also addressed in the stable version.
5. Improved Camera
Here is good news for the smartphone camera enthusiasts. Xiaomi has reported that their development team is working on enabling 4K@60fps video recording on the rear camera. Even high-end devices like Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel XL also do not have this feature.
Presenting the MIUI 10 Global Stable version
These days, the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM is available for testing. The company has confirmed that the stable version of Xiaomi MIUI 10 Global will be launched in the next week. It has features like full-screen gestures, nature-inspired sound effects, AI portrait mode, and UI redesign. The stable version will be available for Xiaomi POCO F1 in the next week.
One thing is for sure. Xiaomi has taken enough care to address the user’s demands in MIUI 10. It has also shown maximum transparency in the POCO brand. This approach deserves admiration and respect. When it comes to beta testing and the developer community, software developers need to follow this approach globally.
