After this news, Hyundai shares have recorded a jump of 20 percent. A report issued by Hyundai said that talks with Apple were in a nascent stage, while a report from another media institute said that the two companies would launch self-driving electric cars in 2027.
The Apple Insider report, citing TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, has confirmed that Apple will work with Hyundai for the initial model, after which the company will team up with General Motors and European carmaker PSA Will build new cars.
Kia To Plant In Georgia
The first Apple car will be built on Hyundai’s E-GMP electric vehicle platform. At the same time, Hyundai Mobis will design and produce components of this car. Hyundai’s subsidiary company Kia Motors will produce the Apple car in the US. According to a report, Apple and Kia have signed a deal worth $ 3.5 billion, under which Kia will set up a plant in Georgia, whereby 2024, one million Apple cars will be produced every year, which will later be increased to 4 lakh.
The Hyundai E-GMP platform was introduced in December last year and the company announced that it would build a new generation BEV (battery electric vehicle) model on it. In addition to the company’s Ioniq 5 on the Hyundai E-GMP from 2021, a new battery-electric car from Kia Motors will also be made, which is to be introduced this year.
Range 500 KM
The battery that will be built on Hyundai’s E-GMP will have a maximum range of 500 km on full battery charging. At the same time, its charging capacity will also be tremendous. It is being claimed that it can charge up to 80 percent in 18 minutes through a high-speed charger and can give a range of 100 km in charging in just five minutes.
Apple is quite serious about its new car and is currently working with three auto companies Hyundai Group, General Motors, and PSA.
